What is the job?

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RGN) or Paramedic with relevant post-registration experience for temporary, last-minute, school placements across England and Wales. The successful candidate will need to be a self-motivated individual who is committed to the welfare of children and inclusive education. Your empathy, discretion and ability to build trusting relationships with young people, staff and parents will be key to your success.

 

Who are we looking for?

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Child or Adult Nursing or a Degree in Paramedic science
  • Registration with appropriate governing body (NMC/HCPC)
  • Strong clinical knowledge and skills
  • Caring and compassionate nature, treating pupils, parents and staff with respect and dignity.
  • Work closely with the expert medical, safeguarding, pastoral and academic teams present currently at the school.
  • Ability to work last-minute shifts and a willingness to travel and support schools with outstanding shifts.
  • All our agency nurses/paramedics must work autonomously without direct supervision from the lead nurse in our schools.
  • Personal Liability/Indemnity insurance
  • Good computer literacy skills e.g. Microsoft word, excel, clinical documentation tools (EMIS/SystemOne) and School IT systems (iSAMS)

 

Desirable Attributes:

  • Previous school medicine experience or having worked within an Accident and Emergency department or General Practice.
  • Experience of providing assessment and management of minor illness and injuries.
  • Mental Health assessment and management experience
  • Excellent, adaptable communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate ability to adapt to working within a changing environment
  • Ability to demonstrate evidence-based practice and use of research
  • Evidence of supporting equality and valuing diversity in own practice
  • Good understanding of the Public Health Agenda
  • Good understanding of the Healthy Child Programme
  • Understanding of the range of health needs in different schools
  • Demonstrates a passion for working with children and families
